Quick Start Guide

This quick start guide assumes you have already installed the Chrome Extension. (See Installing The Extension)

Setting up Doppio

You'll need to ensure you are logged in and have given Doppio the correct permissions to view and edit your slides. You also need to ensure Doppio is initiated for the specific presentation you wish to

  1. Open the Google Slides presentation you wish to use Doppio in. If prompted, register or log in. Your logged-in session is valid for 7 days, at which point you will be required to re-authenticate.
  2. Click the Doppio extension icon again and click 'Sign In with Google'. This connects Doppio to your Google account and allows Doppio to read and write to your Google Slides presentations. You can read more about why this is required here. This step should only be required once unless you revoke Google permissions in the future.
  3. Click the Doppio extension icon again, give your presentation a name, and click 'Next'. You'll be prompted to refresh your browser window.
  4. Select the slide you wish to add some interactive content to and click the Doppio extension icon. Note down the 'Event Code' (A 5-digit number). This is the code your audience will use on doppio.us to join your presentation and interact. We suggest you add this to your presentation somewhere.
Click 'Slide' from the top menu, and copy and paste the example text from the window into the slide's speaker notes.

Adding your first interaction

You can now modify the text to customise your poll. Below is a quick explanation of all the fields and what they do. This help article contains more detail.

Do not remove or change the text that says
START OF DOPPIO CONTENT - DO NOT MODIFY THIS LINE

and

END OF DOPPIO CONTENT - DO NOT MODIFY THIS LINE

  • Question - The question that will appear in the participant's experience
  • Answers - The answers that will appear under the bars of the chart on your slide
  • Answers For Participants - The options participants will see when voting within the participant's experience
  • Show Results After - The number of seconds Doppio will wait before displaying the poll results on the slide.
  • Poll Type. Only bar charts are supported at the moment, so leave this value as Bar Chart.

When you've finished modifying your poll options, click the Doppio extension icon and 'Save Changes'. Doppio will then turn your speaker notes into a new interactive element. You will be prompted to refresh your presentation once Doppio has finished saving your changes.

You will see a placeholder for your interactive content on the slide. You can move and resize this image to adjust the size and positioning of your interactive content on the slide.

Testing it all

  • On your computer, put your Slides document into Presentation mode.
  • On a second device (Like a mobile phone), visit https://doppio.us and enter the 5-digit code you wrote down earlier.
  • On your computer, click through to the slide with interactive content.
  • On your phone, you should now see your polling options available and be able to vote.

Removing an Interaction

The easiest way to remove an interaction from a slide is to delete everything from the speaker notes for that slide that mentions Doppio, including the 'Start' and 'End' lines as below:

START OF DOPPIO CONTENT - DO NOT MODIFY THIS LINE

(text)

END OF DOPPIO CONTENT - DO NOT MODIFY THIS LINE

Optionally, you can delete the placeholder image too.

Once you have done this, click the Doppio extension icon and 'Save Changes'. This will remove the placeholder image from your slide too.
