Granting Google Slides Access

When using Doppio for the first time, you’ll be asked to grant Doppio access to your Google Slides presentations. Doppio needs this to read and write certain data to your presentations so it can:

  1. Understand both the kinds of personalised experiences you want to deliver
  2. Insert placeholders for showing personalised content as you present.

We’ve added some common questions and answers on how Doppio uses your Google data below.

Do I have to grant Doppio access to my Google Slides data?

Yes. Without granting Doppio access to do this, it cannot see any of the data required to create interactive experiences or add the placeholder images to your slides.

How do I grant Doppio access to my Google Slides data?

When you open the Doppio extension (after logging in), you will see a prompt asking for you to connect Doppio to Google Slides. If you do not see this prompt and you are logged in, Doppio is already connected.

What data do you collect? Where and how is it stored?

Doppio only reads the ‘Speaker notes’ and the URL (the link shown in the address bar) of individual slides. Doppio only looks for specific blocks of text that dictate the personalised experience you are looking to create. Any other text in your speaker notes is ignored. A condensed version of this data is saved on Doppio’s servers.

Does Doppio read the content on my slides?

No, Doppio does not read or store any content on your slides. Only specific content within the slide speaker notes is read and may be stored.

What data does Doppio write to my slides?

Doppio adds placeholder images to your slides. You can move and resize these images to change how your live Doppio content is displayed within your presentation.

When presenting, Doppio will swap this content for live content, such as charts.

What other data does Doppio collect about me and my slides?

You must enable Doppio on each presentation you wish to use it on. Doppio can only read data from presentations on which you have enabled it. For example, if you have 100 Google Slides presentations on Google Drive and you enable Doppio on 2, it will not even know the remaining 98 presentations exist.

On presentations where it is enabled, Doppio collects only the following data:

  • When, and how often you present using Doppio’s features. This data is used to log results, such as who voted, and which elements they interacted with.
  • The URL (web address) of your individual slides and presentations. This data is used to help Doppio identify which slide or presentation you are currently creating or presenting.
  • Any speaker notes where it sees the Doppio start and end tags. All speaker notes not enclosed within these tags are ignored. This data is used to build the interactive elements within your presentations.

Where is my data stored?

Doppio utilizes Google Firebase to hold all customer data. Google Firebase is a scalable, secure database hosted in Google’s cloud.

Do you sell, re-market, or exchange this data with any third parties?

No. Doppio does not sell, trade or give away any customer or Google Slides data in any form. Our revenue model is based purely on monthly subscription fees.

How can I obtain all the data Doppio has stored about me and my slides?

Drop us an email - support@doppio.live with details of your request and the email address you use to log in to Doppio. We will make this data available to you. If you’d like your personal data removed from our database, you can also request this by contacting us at support@doppio.live.

How do I revoke Doppio’s access to my slides?

You can revoke access from the ‘Preferences’ option within the Doppio Chrome extension. (The option is at the bottom of the window). You can also remove Doppio from Google Chrome. This will stop Doppio from running within your browser.
